Libertarian Burton still in 3rd District race

Libertarian Kitty Burton says she has not withdrawn from the 3rd Congressional District race and is continuing her campaign. However, Burton, who is also a K-TALK radio personality, says if voters in the district want to "make a difference" and cast their vote for someone who can actually win the race, they should consider voting for Democrat Nancy Woodside. "She's a darn fine woman," Burton said Thursday. Burton said she can't withdraw from the race as her name is already on ballots printed in the district. She could stop campaigning and ask people to vote for Woodside. But she said she's not doing that. "I want people to vote their conscience. If that is a vote for me, OK. But I don't want (GOP incumbent) Chris Cannon to be able to use me as an excuse. He says he won't debate Nancy unless I'm included," Burton said. "But we all know the TV stations and others won't let me debate because I'm not up to 3 percent (support in public opinion polls). So he's saying he won't debate Nancy. That's not right."
