S.L. Co. Council Rejects Parcel Purchase
Salt Lake County Council members have rejected -- for now -- a proposal to buy 1.5 acres near the South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy.
Instead, they urged County Mayor Nancy Workman's office to go back and get a better deal.
The council discussed the proposed purchased Tuesday during a closed-door meeting. The parcel's price tag was not disclosed.
Earlier, during an open meeting, county chief administrative officer David Marshall pitched the plan to buy a boarded-up gas station and car wash in order to build an entrance to the expo center. "We want to control what we call the gateway to our site," Marshall said.
