Not In Our Name: National Day of Protest Against War in Iraq

Several organizations teamed up for a national day of resistance to Bush's plans for war in Iraq. Most opposition to war with Iraq had come from the international community until some Democrats began questioning Bush's Administration. This Sunday more radical elements of that opposition held action in many cities across the nation. In Portand the Associated Press reported 4,000 demonstrators, with other reports placing that number around 13,000. All events saw a hundreds of participants. Salt Lake City teamed up and held the Walk for Peace and Rally for Justice this past Sunday in solidarity with the nation wide actions. The rally drew three to four hundred people according to the Utah IMC. Which is large than most actions held in Salt Lake. Organized by the leaderless group, People for Peace and Justice of Utah ( www.utahpeace.org ) the this event drew hundreds of Utahns to express there resentment to having war waged over oil in their names.
